Downstream Data Coverage - Disclaimer

This webpage provides information to NAID members, prospective members and their customers about Downstream Data Coverage, a professional liability insurance product developed for data-related vendors that is available as a benefit of NAID membership to companies that meet the underwriter's eligibility requirements. Downstream Data Coverage is offered exclusively through Association Insurance Management (AIM) and is underwritten by certain underwriters at Lloyd's.

A New Kind of Coverage

Downstream Data Coverage is the only professional liability insurance:

  • Designed for the unique risks of today's data-related service provider and the customers they serve.
  • That validates the vendor's operational security with the regular announced and unannounced audits that are required for NAID AAA Certification.

"As a firm that uses service providers, we see their professional liability coverage as something they do to protect us as much as them. We need to know it will be there to protect us and that a quality organization stands behind it."

"In my last liability policy they sold me a 'cybercoverage' policy that protected client information on OUR computers and on OUR website but it did nothing to protect the information on the CLIENT'S computers and hard drives that we accepted for destruction."

"They all tell you that you're covered for this or that. I like that Downstream Data Protection covers my client's data breach exposure to the full limit of the policy, and says so in writing."

"Finally an insurance product that was designed for my company's unique exposures as a data-related service provider."

TO THE SERVICE PROVIDER

TEMPORARY IMAGE

There is only one professional liability product created specifically to compliment NAID AAA Certification.  It is also the only professional liability product offered for which the ultimate goal is to reduce the cost of coverage to members and ensure their clients are properly protected.

In time, customers will certainly come to appreciate service providers who rely on coverage that they can trust and that is specifically designed for their protection.

TO CUSTOMERS OF SERVICE PROVIDERS

You owe it to your organization to look beyond verbal assurances and make sure your data-related service provider’s professional liability coverage really protects your firm.  Many policies don’t.

You can either try to decipher confusing insurance policy language or insist they have a policy, like Downstream Data Coverage, that was developed specifically for your protection and that is backed by a trusted source.
